S-lift

Face Surgery » S-lift

The S-lift, also known as a mini facelift or a short scar facelift, is a surgical procedure designed to address signs of aging in the lower third of the face, particularly the jowls and the jawline. It is a less invasive alternative to traditional facelift procedures and is often suitable for individuals with mild to moderate facial sagging and skin laxity.

Key points about the S-lift (mini facelift):

1. Procedure: During the S-lift, the surgeon makes incisions in front of and behind the ears, creating an "S" shaped incision. Through these incisions, they lift and tighten the underlying facial muscles and tissues, and excess skin is removed. The procedure is designed to improve the appearance of the jawline and lower face.

2. Candidates: The S-lift is ideal for individuals who have early signs of facial aging, such as mild jowls, sagging skin in the lower face, and minimal neck laxity. It is generally more suitable for younger patients who do not require extensive correction.

3. Anesthesia: The S-lift is typically performed under local anesthesia with sedation to ensure the patient's comfort during the procedure.

4. Incisions and Scarring: The incisions made during the S-lift are shorter than those used in a traditional facelift, resulting in smaller and less noticeable scars.

5. Recovery: After the S-lift, patients may experience some swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort in the treated area. Most individuals can resume light activities within a week or two, but more strenuous activities should be avoided for several weeks.

6. Results: The results of the S-lift can provide a more rejuvenated and youthful appearance, with improvement in the jawline and lower face. However, the longevity of the results may not be as long-lasting as those of a traditional facelift.

7. Safety: The S-lift is considered a safe procedure when performed by a qualified and experienced plastic surgeon. As with any surgical procedure, there are potential risks and complications, such as infection, scarring, and dissatisfaction with the surgical outcomes, which should be discussed with the surgeon before the procedure.

It's essential for individuals considering an S-lift to have a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in facial procedures. The surgeon will assess the patient's concerns, discuss their goals and expectations, and recommend the most suitable approach to achieve the desired results. They will also explain the potential risks and benefits of the procedure and provide pre-operative and post-operative instructions to ensure a smooth and successful recovery.
