We all love to look clean and fresh all day, but what if you have the condition called hyperhydrosis? Hyperhydrosis is a condition wherein a person is sweating excessively to regulate body heat. Though the condition is not life threatening, it is somehow embarrassing. Imagine heading to a very important meeting or going on a date, then arriving all messy and sweaty, would it be easy to explain that you have a condition that make you sweat so much, or would their first impression with you be ruined just like that?

Scientists say that excessive sweating may be exacerbated by stress related to anxiety or excitement, though the exact cause of the condition is still quiet unknown. Hyperhydrosis or excessive sweating can either affect the whole body or just specific areas such as the underarms, palms, sole of the feet, or the head.

The good news is, though there is no available medicine or treatment to directly address the root of the condition, effective treatments are now available.

BOTOX, the wonder drug of the new millennium, has been FDA approved to alleviate symptoms of excessive sweating on the underarm, hence, cosmetic surgeons and dermatologists had been using this to treat the condition in cases where topical medications no longer work.

HOW DOES BOTOX WORK IN CONTROLLING EXCESSIVE SWEATING AND HOW IS THE TREATMENT DONE?

Our skin’s dermis layer is made up of sweat glands, hair follicles, sebaceous glands, blood vessels, and nerve endings. When BOTOX is injected to the skin area, the treatment affects the signal between the nerve endings and the sweat glands in the dermis, with BOTOX blocking the nerve endings therefore blocking the release of neurotransmitters, thus disrupting the production of sweat.

BOTOX has also been increasingly used not only for excessive sweating on the underarm but also on the palms and on the feet. Injections are strategically placed on several points around the area to be treated. Topical anesthesia is usually applied before injection of BOTOX for patients comfort.

The whole procedure will take less than 30mins and patients can go back to their hotels or wherever they are heading immediately after.

WHAT IS THE EFFECT AFTER BOTOX INJECTION?

Sweat reduction may become more apparent after 3-4 weeks from the first treatment. The result is very noticeable as you will need less and less change of clothing as the treatment takes effect. Though there is no guarantee that you will no longer produce sweat completely, we can guarantee that there will be a significant improvement.

The result of BOTOX injection usually lasts for about 6 months, then you will have to book a trip to see our surgeon or dermatologists again for another treatment. For a more permanent result, our doctors recommend having the treatment every 4 months.

WHAT CAN WE OFFER?

Aside from having doctors who have inept knowledge of the human anatomy along with its most sensitive and intricate veins and musculature, Yoskarn Clinic also offers nothing but authentic BOTOX products which may be a little more expensive, but guaranteed safe and effective.

Excessive sweating and foul smell (bromidrosis) on the armpit can also be corrected through a minimal invasive surgical approach. This procedure is done by Prof. Somyos Kunachak by a tiny (few millimeter) stab incision along the natural crease of the armpit and a special instrument. The instrument which will be connected to a machine will be inserted underneath the skin to gently remove the sweat glands including the apocrine glands.

This surgery will take about 1-2 hours and dressing will be applied for compression for 2 days. The result of the procedure is a permanent elimination of sweaty and foul underarms.

We also offer accommodation for our patients through Aphrodite Inn, a boutique hotel located just beside our clinic. Even for non-surgical patients, the location of our hotel is ideal for shopping fanatics and those who just love the hustle and bustle of the city.

Aphrodite Inn offers room service for all guests with complimentary breakfast. Patients of Yoskarn Clinic also enjoy privileged privacy as our center has a connecting door to the hotel, only for patients and clinic staff use.
