If you are one of those whose body clock is confused between day and night or you find yourself always sleepy in the morning and wide awake at night, you may not be just a simple night person, you may be having low levels of Melatonin, one of the major hormones that control our sleep-wake pattern. If you are one of those who are contemplating on taking sleeping pills for your "possible insomnia", you may also want to consider Melatonin Hormonal Replacement in Thailand.

This hormone is produced in the Pineal Gland, a small gland located in our brain. It is the hormone that plays part in our normal sleep-wake-cycle by inducing drowsiness. During the late hours in the afternoon, our body starts to produce more melatonin to trigger sleepiness at night then come morning, the pineal gland works less in producing this hormone to wake us up and keep us alert. Light and darkness plays a big part in the production of Melatonin. As light enters our retina in the morning, it sends signals to inhibit the production of the hormone, while darkness allows its production again.

Though many other factors affect our sleeping pattern, Melatonin has one of the biggest roles in regulating it.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF USING MELATONIN HORMONE REPLACEMENT in Thailand?

Melatonin production is somehow affected by our age, for instance, adolescents had been found to release melatonin later in the night that’s why they usually stay up till the wee hours of the day. As we age however, melatonin is released earlier, supporting older people’s pattern of sleeping early and waking up early.

Melatonin therapy in Thailand is sometimes used in extreme cases of sleep pattern disturbance such as insomnia. Supplemental melatonin has been successfully used for delayed sleep-phase syndrome, a type of insomnia characterized by wakefulness and the inability to fall asleep before 2-3am. Other Circadian Rhythm Disorders are still under study with regards to the possible benefits of Melatonin therapy but many doctors are already using it for patients with sleep restrictions to prolong their sleep time.

Melatonin supplementation has also been recommended for people experiencing jet lag, though temporarily only. Travelling across time zones can really take it’s toll on our body clocks, which can then affect our sleeping pattern and therefore our overall condition.

The anti-aging property of Melatonin is also under scrutiny as people with Melatonin deficiency had been found out to exhibit premature signs of aging and depressed immune function. Though its anti-aging and immune system boosting properties hasn’t been fully established yet, doctors are already eyeing this hormone to aid in preserving our youthfulness.

HOW DO YOU USE MELATONIN SUPPLEMENT in Thailand?

Melatonin supplementation may cause sleepiness, lower body temperature, vivid dreams, and morning grogginess so it should only be taken at bed time, or ideally, around 8pm for it to take effect earlier in the night.

Before prescribing this hormone, our surgeon, Prof. Somyos Kunachak, orders a hormonal screening test. During your consultation, you will be fully evaluated and you will be asked to completely fill in a medical history form for better evaluation of your condition. After we get the result of your screening test, Prof. Somyos may prescribe the dosage of Melatonin that you need and may also recommend other hormones which you may be deficient as well.

Melatonin is usually not for long term use so our surgeon will explain the duration of your therapy with you.

WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF MELATONIN HORMONE REPLACEMENT THERAPY in Thailand?

At Yoskarn Clinic, our doctors, led by Prof. Somyos Kunachak, only use Bio-Identical Hormones. Bio-Identical Hormones are synthetically produces hormones that are of the same molecular build as our natural hormones, making it very acceptable for our body.

There are basically no side effects to taking Melatonin Supplementation, but like all other hormones in our body, a balanced level is the optimum level. With this, our center recommends a pre-treatment blood test and a repeat test after 3-6 months depending on the degree of deficiency on your primary hormone test.

The feeling of drowsiness, lowered body temperature, etc. are all normal effects of the hormone, and since during the start of the therapy, your body will have to adjust to the new level of the hormone, you may experience these effects ofter, but these are not side effects of the bio-identical hormone.
